Will Smith
Will Smith will not be able to attend the Oscars and other events organized by the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 10 years due to the Chris Rock slap scandal.
The Academy Board of Directors said in a statement.
Chris Rock and Will Smith
President David Rubin and CEO Don Hudson apologized to viewers for not responding adequately and in a timely manner due to the shock during the broadcast. They also thanked the presenters, nominees, guests, and everyone present at the ceremony for checking in. The Academy expressed its special gratitude to Chris Rock.
Will Smith treated such a punishment with restraint.
He told Fox News.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
Recall that at the Oscars ceremony at the Dolby Theater on March 27, Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock for a joke he made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Chris Rock compared Jada, who suffered from hair loss, to the heroine of the movie “GI Jane”.
Smith later apologized to the comedian personally and to the Academy for his behavior and decided to withdraw from membership. But he still had to face the serious consequences of his action – recently it became known that Netflix and Sony suspended filming with the actor.
