Gloomy position on the podium, dirt and Kanye West: What was Demna Gvasalia’s new collection for Balenciaga?

Demna Gvasalia begins with these words about the show: “I hate frames and labels, I hate when they put a label on me and try to put me in a frame.” She later adds that she no longer plans to explain the meaning of the collections, but simply broadcasts her feelings through them.

This morning guests were greeted by a disturbing space made entirely of earth (applause to the set designers). If at the fashion show of the autumn-winter collection the models made their way through a blizzard and snow, this time they quickly walked through the puddles. It’s no coincidence that the show is called Mud Show.

The honor of opening the dramatic “performance” went to Kanye West, who appeared on the “dirtiest” catwalk in a black look – a voluminous jacket with multiple pockets and Security, leather pants and a hat with the brand logo. After that, models enter the arena in ripped jeans, oversized biker jackets, and glowing dresses whose skirts are ruthlessly covered in dirt drops. The last look of the collection was a dress made from Le Cagole bags.

Accessories deserve special attention. And something tells us they’re going to get the “o” prefix very soon. In its new collection, Demna introduced spring scarves, toy-shaped bags or empty packet chips, as well as baby carriers, wide belts and large nosed sleeves.
