Which parent has never struggled to get their baby to sleep? Yes well, those who say ” oh no I’m fine, I put him in his crib and he falls asleep alone in 10 seconds, gnia-gnia-gnia We hear you, but we are jealous.
For others, those who struggle for long minutes, even hours, trying to put the last born to sleep by cradling him, spinning him in the stroller, in the car, singing nursery rhymes until the voice breaks, this technique could help you.
A technique for making babies fall asleep
In a study published in the journal Current Biology, Italian-Japanese scientists shared their procedure, so far tested only with mothers, but which can be applied by all those who care for a crying baby at bedtime.
The technique is relatively simple on paper and relies on the baby’s movement and carrying, which would reduce his crying.
Specifically, when the baby cries before bedtime, we should carry him and walk with him in our arms for 5 minutes, with his head resting on our heart. After these 5 minutes, if the crying has subsided, you should sit for 5-8 minutes holding the baby firmly in your arms, then finally put him in his crib.

The five-minute walk must be done flat, without tight turns and without stopping. In this way, the baby’s heart rate would match that of the person wearing them and would help calm him down while promoting sleep.
Even according to these scientists, the phase in which the parent would sit with the baby in his arms is crucial, because if the baby is rested in his crib immediately after the walk, the crying could recur within 20 seconds. Not joking.
According to Dr. Kuroda, author of the study, this technique would work, as it would be a “transport response”, an innate reaction in all altricial or altritial mammals – those that are born without being able to move and feed on their own – that have need for transport or contact to help slow the heart rate, thus promoting sleep.
If this study can help stop driving around the neighborhood in a stroller or car every night, we take it, huh. And you, have you tried this technique?
