“Brazil is home to the Amazon and other critical ecosystems for climate change. What happens out there matters to all of us, and young people’s votes are key to driving change for a healthy planet.

Bolsonaro, who has sparked international controversy for his policies, including reducing environmental protection for the Amazon rainforest, sarcastically responded:

“Thanks for the support, Leo! It’s very important that all Brazilians vote in the next election. Our people will decide whether they want to maintain our dominance over the Amazon or be ruled by thugs serving foreign private interests.
