Matt Smith as Damon Targaryen in House of the Dragon

The network is discussing the play by actor Matt Smith and his character Damon Targaryen from the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.

Although Damon is a rather negative character, he has no less fans than Princess Rhaenyra, played by actress Millie Alcock. Damon received special attention from fans of the series following the release of the third episode of the series, where he was at the center of the plot (Be careful spoilers!).

In the third series, part of the story is devoted to the Battle of the Stairs: Damon Targaryen and his followers try to reclaim the island from Craghas the Crab Feeder, but fail. Then Damon decides to act alone: he lands on the island, calms the vigilance of the soldiers with a white flag of truce, and rushes to the attack – against all. Hundreds of warriors are unable to defeat him and arrows fly past him (escape with minor wounds), while Daemon moves away from the chase and approaches the caves to lure Craghas out. Finally, Damon is seen dragging what’s left of the Crab Feeder. He does all this quietly, which is why Matt Smith’s acting surprised the audience.

According to one Twitter user (blocked in Russia), the reason for Damon’s popularity lies in the facial expressions and acting of Matt Smith, who has been called “extraordinary”. The character has been compared to other idols from the Game of Thrones universe: Jon Snow and Jaime Lannister.

Recall that the action in the series “Dragon House” took place 200 years before the events described in “Game of Thrones”, and it tells about the struggle of representatives of House Targaryen for the throne of Westeros. The plot is based on the novel “Fire and Blood” by George Martin.
