Another piece of proof that you might not believe all the life hacks from TikTok is that not so long ago, foreign influencers started claiming that boric acid suppositories (aka candles) often used to treat ailments can cure anything from vaginal dryness. To restore the pH balance. But doctors, of course, do not agree with this.

Typically, boric acid suppositories are used to treat viral, bacterial or fungal infections. They are sold without a prescription and have probably become popular with some girls for this reason. According to them, they can improve vaginal odor and taste and restore pH balance after intercourse.

But Jody Horton, Love Wellness’s chief health adviser, disagrees. In an interview with Insider magazine, he said that with repeated use of boric acid, it can destroy the “good” bacteria needed to maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome, while also causing irritation, itching, allergic reaction and other side effects.

Only one conclusion can be drawn from this – never trust TikTok in matters of health, and before using drugs, always consult your gynecologist to avoid unpleasant consequences.
