Prince Charles Guest-Edits British black newspaper “The Voice” to celebrate 40th anniversary, including interview with Idris Elba

Prince Charles prepared 40 as a guestmyself Anniversary edition of the British black newspaper Ხma.

The prince said he was “very upset” by the question, pointing out that the newspaper, the only one in Britain to focus on black issues and culture, had become an “institution”.

In its edition, which goes on sale next week, Prince Charles has celebrated some of the black community’s great successes over the past 40 years since The Voice debuted in 1982.

The problem includes:

  • An interview with Idris Elba, who always appreciated receiving a Prince’s Trust scholarship as a teenager, launched her career.
  • Interview with Bernardine Evaristo, author of Girl, Woman, Other and the first black woman to win the Man Booker Prize.
  • An interview with Baroness Lawrence, the mother of the murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, who has been fighting for years to improve the social and economic mobility of people from different backgrounds.

Prince Charles said: “Over the past four decades, with all the great changes they have seen, the only surviving black newspaper in Britain has become an institution and a crucial part of the fabric of our society.

“That’s why I was so excited to be invited to edit this special issue.”

Lester Holloway, editor of the paper, said: “Our readers may be surprised by the parallels between the problems. Ხma Four decades of campaigning and work involving the Prince of Wales over the same period, often behind the scenes.

“These reasons were once scorned and ridiculed in past decades, but are widely accepted today.”
