Records are to blame (really promising). The Game of Thrones prequel was reported to have been watched by 9.99 million viewers on HBO and HBO Max on its premiere night, August 21-22, 2022. A few days later, the show’s audience reached 20 million viewers in the United States. “We’re proud of what the entire House of Dragon team has accomplished. Our outstanding cast and crew put themselves in a serious challenge and exceeded all expectations. We’re excited to continue bringing the House Targaryen story to life in Season 2,” said Francesca Orsi, Vice President of Programming at HBO.
