The latest arrival of latex came in the 2020 autumn-winter season. In Paris Fashion Week, Saint Laurent’s designer Anthony Vaccarello chose bras, bodysuits and dresses from this material for his fashion show, while Olivier Rousteing from Balmain preferred slim-fit suits. Additionally, we all remember the photos with latex combinations on Kourtney and Kim Kardashian. However, it wasn’t the textured costumes themselves that went viral, but the videos showing the challenge in which influencers wore them.

Recently, Kate Beckinsale decided to give the material a tenth breath by choosing a tight-fitting black latex Jane Doe dress with a high neckline and accent buckle for Demi Lovato’s 30th birthday party. The actress completed the outfit with a minimalist white clutch, silver earrings and bracelets, as well as open-toe shoes on an ultra-high platform. We’re not sure Kate can stand dancing all night in this image, but the wow effect is definitely on her pocket.

It’s fair to say that latex never made it off the runways: In 1994, Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell walked it on the Versace show, and later Alexander McQueen and John Galliano used it in their collections. In terms of comfort, the material is of course controversial. But for rare and well-meaning exits – why not.
