During these six months without the giants of the mass market, the domestic consumer has managed to get to know many Russian brands, reconsider their perspective on shopping, and sympathize with vintage stores. We tried to understand why our manufacturers couldn’t set the prices of traditional Zara and started to study fashion projects in neighboring countries.
In the first place in the list were young brands from Belarus. We fell in love with the Zibra bomber jackets, the cheeky KAZÁKI biker jackets and the LSD Clothing pant suits. And now it’s time to explore Kazakhstan’s fashion community. We’ve rounded up five brands that are definitely worth knowing about.
Boyjetken
Boijetken is a Kazakh underwear brand that we fell in love with at first sight. All products are handmade and the founder of the brand, Aluya Suleimenova, promotes the philosophy of “wearing Kazakhstan” in every possible way. This is reflected in the name of the brand – from the Kazakh language Boijetken is translated as “girl”.
I
The sweater brand appeared a little over six months ago, when I was, but it has already managed to win the love of local fashionistas. And now it’s ours. The creators of the brand publish reasonable consumption, so everything in the collections can be easily combined with each other and even transformed. Our main favorites are a short shirt with removable sleeves and beige Bermuda shorts. In addition, the product range includes ideal trouser suits and knitwear.
Xaru
The basis of the Xaru brand is handmade knitwear. The collection includes pamans and shoppers made of raffia (palm leaves), fluffy angora hats, thick-knit Australian wool cardigans, and oversized merino sweaters with an unusual patch on the bottom. By the way, all products are sewn to order, and the price is calculated depending on the consumption of thread and the amount of work.
We Nera
Created by friends from Almaty, We Nera is inspired by the aesthetics of nomads and infused with references to nature. The collection offers things that are minimalist but not boring at the same time. Intricate cuts, unusual silhouettes and a simple color palette are the three main components of Nera. The brand has two lines: NERA – more democratic; and WE NERA has limited edition handcrafted items. By the way, the young brand has great success in glossy magazines – this year the products of the collection were featured in the local Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.
Interior Concept
“Clothes for those who feel this world gracefully,” says Ine Concept’s profile description. In the brand’s collection you will find underwear style suits, laconic maxi skirts, eco-leather trench coats, trouser suits and excellent bandeau tops. By the way, there is an individual tailoring for anything. So if you’ve been looking for the perfect fit for a long time, take a look at Ine Concept.
