Special: The 2022 CMT Music Awards added more artists to the first CBS show.
Jason Aldin will play Brian Adams, while Jimmy Allen and Monica will join the previously announced Little Big Town. Walker Hayes and Thomas Rhett will also sing along with Riley Green of Nashville City Court on April 11.
Artists previously announced for the show include Mickey Gayton and the Black Pumas, Kelsey Ballerin, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and Ryan Heard, Carly Pierce, Cole Swindel and Lane Wilson, and Keith Urban. Casey Masgraves presents Juds’ first teleplay in 20 years, while Carrie Underwood presents an entirely new play from Resorts World Theatre, where her current show, Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency is airing.
Presented by Kelsey Ballerin and Anthony Mackey, the CMT Music Awards is the only Center Music Awards show where fans vote. The show aired on CMT before it aired on CBS/Viacom last summer. The awards ceremony, originally scheduled for April 3, coincided with the Grammy ceremony, which was postponed to April 3 after a pandemic forced it to postpone the original January date. This caused the CMT Awards to be moved to April 11th, which will be streamed live from 8pm to 11pm ET/Late PT.
“CMT is one of the few live awards shows where ratings are going up, so yes, it’s gotten more popular,” said John Hamlin of Switched On Entertainment, along with Margaret Como, the show’s executive producers, and Leslie Fram of CMT. Owen (Sandbox). ᲒEntertainment). “We understand very well that we need to separate ourselves from the nation. You want the show to have its own point of view. There are three main country music-themed shows and they have three different personalities. We like that our teens are more diverse musically. And of course, we’re more gender inclusive. ”
Comeaux adds: “Everyone is welcome to our party, and we hope our performances and the people they play on will be part of a larger community of music lovers. “We know our audiences love it more than country music, they love classic rock, urban rock and click hop.”
Underwood remains the best winner overall with her 23rd CMT Music Award win. This year she will release two more (video of the year, ensemble) for the movie “IF I Didn’t Love You” with Aldane. The other five nominees for “Video of the Year” are Kane Brown (“One Mississippi”), Kelsey Ballerina. Kenny Chesney (“Half of My Homeland”), Luke Combs (“Forever After All”), Cody Johnson (“Until You Can”) and Cole Swindell & Lainey Wilson (“Never Say Never”).
