JK Rowling has a falling out with Joanne Harris, author of the novel “Chocolate”.

JK Rowling had a verbal confrontation with her colleague Joanne Harris, best known for her novel “Chocolate”, which was adapted for the screen with Johnny Depp. The reason was Rowling’s post supporting Salman Rushdie.
Rowling tweeted to wish the recovery of Rushdie, who was attacked and began to receive threats himself. Thereupon, a user named Mir Asif Aziz wrote, “Don’t worry, it’s your turn”. Media reported that the man was an extremist, who previously described the gunman who attacked Rushdie as a “revolutionary Shiite fighter”. Police are already investigating threats on social networks.
Joanne Harris, president of the British Writers’ Association, later tweeted a poll asking her colleagues if they had received threats*. The response options were: “Yes”, “No”, “Damn, yes!” and “Show me the results now!”. For many, these answers seemed too pointless for such a topic. As a result, nearly 50 British writers signed a letter proposing to remove Harris from his post as president of the Writers’ Association for his “frivolous attitude” towards a serious problem.
In an interview with The Times, JK Rowling stated that Joanne Harris, who was subjected to “cancellation” for statements considered transphobic, did not support her:
Rowling said everyone who signed the letter agreed with her views.

The dispute between Rowling and Harris began a long time ago. The 2020 Harry Potter author was heavily criticized and harassed for making fun of the phrase “menstruating people”. Harris did not publicly condemn the bullying at the time. She describes herself as a gender fluid (a person whose gender identity is inconsistent).
