German director Wolfgang Petersen, who directed films such as Troy, The Neverending Story and The Boat, passed away in the USA. He was 81 years old. Petersen’s death was reported by Deadline.

The director died on August 12 at his home in Brentwood, California. Petersen’s cause of death was pancreatic cancer. Next to him was the producer’s wife, Marie Antoinette, with whom he lived for 50 years.
One of Petersen’s most successful works, shot in 1981 and World War II. The movie “Boat” about the military campaign of a German submarine during World War II. The director received six Oscar nominations for this film. After the success of this movie, the cinematographer started working in Hollywood.
He is also known for movies like Air Force One, Epidemic, The Perfect Storm with George Clooney, Poseidon with Kurt Russell.
