“All decent people are already there”: Yevgeny Ponasenkov commented on the decision of the Ministry of Justice to recognize him as a foreign agent

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added it to the register of foreign agents (organizations and persons receiving funds from abroad). This list includes Evgeny Ponasenkov, historian, blogger, and protagonist of countless memes known as “maestros.”
Ponasenkov commented on this decision in a conversation with Daily Storm.
He added that he has not yet had time to personally meet the expanded list of “foreign agents”, but that, in his view, “all honest people have been there for a long time.” Ponasenkov also told RBC that he has not received “a penny” from abroad and that his lawyers will appeal the Justice Department’s decision.
Earlier, Ponasenkov openly stated that he does not support the foreign policy of the Russian authorities, including their actions on the territory of Ukraine. He also condemned celebrities who left the country due to the current situation in the world.
Elizaveta Osetinskaya, founder of The Bell, and journalists Anna Golubeva, Alla Konstantinova, Maria Borzunova, Irina Malkova, Murad Muradov and Viktor Vorobyov were also added to the list of foreign media agents. In total, there are currently 127 positions on this record. It has been running since 2017, but most organizations and individuals added to it in 2021.
