Yes, you read that right, this year the hat most worn on the street and on the beach is fine, light and handmade with knitwear.

Crochet hats have been on the minds of influencers and insiders for a few months now, but it is now, with the arrival of good weather, that we have started to see them en masse. First, it was tops like Bella Hadid or Kendall Jenner that they wore on their beach vacations… and for the past few weeks we haven’t grown tired of seeing them in the collections of our favorite brands and in the best summer looks on Instagram, always an unfailing showcase of trends. Perfect for sheltering a little from the sun (though not enough, things as they are) and brightening up any style, crochet bucket hats are just the latest proof that the passion for this fabric is on the rise.

This French technique, whose name literally translates as crochet, became popular in Europe a few centuries ago when it referred to needlework and was mainly used to weave blankets and tablecloths (remember the one your grandmother had?).
