To celebrate its new Film Award: Creative Courage, the BFI teamed up with Chanel and appointed Tilda Swinton to chair the jury. Swinton will reveal the winners on September 29 at Luminous, the BFI’s fundraising gala, proceeds from which will go to the organization’s educational work. In the future, a panel of industry experts will nominate directors who will be invited to apply for the awards.
