Bolshoi Theater launched an “Open Curtain” action to support the families of martyred soldiers
The “Open Curtain”, a large-scale charity event in Russia, started by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the aim of supporting the Russian audience, as well as providing assistance to military families and refugees from Donbass.
The Bolshoi Theater launched the act – on April 2, Aram Khachaturian’s ballet “Spartacus” by Yuri Grigorovich was shown on the stage. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the families of soldiers who died during a special operation in Ukraine.
Also in April, the theater will invite evacuated residents of the LPR, DPR and Ukraine, currently in Moscow, the Moscow region and nearby regions, to the ballet “Don Quixote”.
– said the general director of the theater, Vladimir Urin, before the start of the performance of “Spartacus”.

He noted that the theater felt that the audience needed art in a difficult time for the country.
Recall that on February 26, Vladimir Urin signed the appeal of theatrical figures opposing the military special operation in Ukraine.
As part of the “Open Curtain” campaign, Russian theaters will hold performances and events for a wide range of audiences, such as extended families, youth members, volunteer and senior organizations.
Previously, the Bolshoi Theater refused to comply with a request to suspend the performance of the famous French choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot’s ballet “The Taming of the Shrew”.
