Everyone is discussing Bumagogoria, a paper city invented by a schoolboy and attracting the attention of the biggest Russian brands.

11-year-old Matvey from Nizhny Novgorod decided to build his own city out of paper. Thanks to social networks, the largest Russian brands drew attention to the boy.

It all started when Twitter user Masha Dürer told her subscribers about Bumagogorsk, which was invented and built by her cousin, and invited everyone to subscribe to her telegram channel she created with the news of the imaginary city. The post suddenly went viral, Matvey’s channel began to gain subscribers very actively. At present, their number exceeds 26 thousand.

The student’s sister to the publication “Paper” (blocked by decision of Roskomnadzor):

About Matvey, Maria says that she was always interested in transport and maps – for example, she drew detailed plans of the cities she invented. The fact that Matvey himself was very surprised by the success of the “Paper – news” channel is evidenced by the entry dated August 3, in which 2.8 thousand people still signed in the boy’s telegrams: “Where are you so many from?” He asked the creator of Bumagogorsk.

On the “City” channel, he publishes news about which objects are being built (a clinic, a fitness club, Pyaterochka store, Dragonfly shopping center, there is even H&M, etc.), which will not be built (“Peace to the world! The mayor is talking about the construction of a military base, etc.”) canceled!”), what is the situation with the coronavirus (“More than 40 cases of COVID-19 infections were found in the city. All infected were sent to the public” hospital”). Also from the political life of the city (“Election is over, Alexander Vladimirovich was elected mayor”), there are local cinema posters and of course news about the weather.

Very quickly, leading brands became interested in the paper city of Matvey. The company Delivery Club asked the boy’s sister to forward an appeal to the same mayor, Alexander Vladimirovich, in which he proposes to “open five restaurants in Bumagogorsk, arrange 50 residents of Bumagogorsk in a courier service, and also provide three meals a day” ( an afternoon snack with!) to builders participating in regulation cities.” But in response, Maria asked the company to “improve the lives of real people, not just paper people,” by providing “adequate working conditions for couriers.”

The Moscow Ministry of Transport delivered paper trains to Bumagogoriya, which Matvey only had to print, and invited him on a tour of the metro. CSKA football club gave the student a 3D puzzle “VEB Arena” and a ticket to a real stadium.

– says the official website of Bumagogorsk, where the project appeared shortly after brands showed interest.

However, this excitement seems to have already angered the creators of the project:

– Maria wrote on Twitter (blocked in the Russian Federation).

Today’s “Bumagogoria news” reports that Vkusvill, Alfa-Bank, Yandex.Lavka, a post office, Megafon, an airport and a train station will soon appear in the city. M.Video, Chitay-gorod, ivi, QIWI and other brands have already been mentioned in the comments with suggestions for cooperation. The VK Play service launched a competition for developers: they were invited to create a game dedicated to Bumagogorsk. Matvey was also invited to tour the VKontakte office. And in the paper city there is a Troika card, and a food festival GastroGorsk is planned.

Interestingly, Matvey instantly had imitators: in his telegram he warned users not to subscribe to fake channels. Bumagogorsk’s story moved many social media users. So, commenter @sadness_trouble tweets:

However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm. The authors of Merciless PR channel compared the Bumagogorsk case to the rise and fall of Clubhouse, a channel that was talked about but quickly forgotten:

– write to the channel.
