The travel chaos was followed by Mip TV, the UK’s EasyJet cancellation series, forcing attendees to find alternative routes to the fur market.
The theater market has been running for two days in parallel with the Canneseries, but most of the Mip TV attendees will leave the UK on Sunday for the event, which kicks off tomorrow and runs for two days.
However, UK travelers were notified this morning of several EasyJet cancellations, prompting a gang of British manufacturers, network executives, analysts and press to travel to France in search of alternative routes.
Most of the attendees Deadline spoke to managed to pass through European destinations including Luxembourg, Amsterdam and Paris on alternative carriers.
“Only on Mip TV,” said one of the veteran market executives, noting that this was not the first time the Cannes event had to deal with the chaos of travel.
The organizer RX France will be immensely disappointed by the situation, made worse by the fact that it is a first-person market for three years. The last two were held online, even though October’s Mipcom was face to face. RX France is busy with passenger connections due to airport pick-up traffic.
