Bringing a star to fashion history and giving it the status of a fashion icon is far from an easy task. If we are talking specifically about the Hollywood Hills – the word “competition” probably originated here. For the joke to be successful, you need a winning combination of four factors at once: successful red carpet debuts, boring street style, content development on social networks and, of course, the patronage of famous brands. And Jared Eng, stylist for actress Joey King, decided to start with points one and four.

Joey King is known from movies like The Kissing Booth, The Dark Knight Rises, The Flash series and more. The latest work is the movie Faster Than Bullet, where the actress played one of the main roles. Jared Eng predicted the timing of the star’s golden age with pinpoint accuracy: neighbors on set – Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. What’s more, photos of artists on the Faster than a Bullet promotional tour are now literally being passed on by journalists – take, for example, Brad Pitt’s recent skirted look. But if you put all the jokes aside and look at the actors’ outfits through the prism of fashion, there is no doubt that a fashion star was born in Joey King’s wardrobe.

For a photo interview in London, Joey tried on a Nensi Dojaka dress with a quirky bodice and later at the movie premiere, a Marc Jacobs combination with cool color highlights and a retro wavy hairstyle in the best traditions of old Hollywood. Previously, actor Paco Rabanne voted with dollars (or rather, with the stylist – arrangement skills) for Thom Browne dresses and Balenciaga overalls. Our absolute favorite is the leather suit by Georgian brand Materiel for a promotional tour stop in Paris. Literally in a few weeks, Jared Eng announced to the whole world a rare characteristic feature of the ward: the actor cannot be called a hostage of an image, and the same “Kissing Booth” is not a ceiling for Joey at all.


A good start has been made. It remains to collect the two missing pieces of the puzzle. To finally bring the idea to life, it is useful for the stylist to provide a high-quality section of street style. Maeve Reilly did the same with Megan Fox – the actress was back in the headlines of fashion articles in just a year. And let’s not forget the social networks: Now Joey’s profile is more like an artist’s account of the tenth plan – low-quality photos of the latest releases, teasers for new covers, and series posters. It would be fair to say that the approach is not without its romance, but unfortunately that doesn’t work in the fashion community. Or is Jared Eng aiming to change the rules of the game?
