Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited UN Headquarters in New York today. The couple came to attend events dedicated to the annual celebration of the International Day of Nelson Mandela, an activist and former president of South Africa (who died in 2013).
The Duke of Sussex was the keynote speaker and gave a speech to the United Nations General Assembly on the problem of racial inequality, social stratification, the food crisis and climate change.

Accompanying Harry, Meghan opted for a tailored black outfit with a Givenchy skirt (the same green she once wore on her royal tour of Ireland) and a Mulberry bag. She completed the look with a gold watch and a Cartier bracelet that once belonged to Princess Diana. Prince Harry’s mother met Nelson Mandela in person during a private visit to South Africa in 1997, shortly before his tragic death. Diana’s biographers indicated that she sincerely admired Mandela and the struggle for human rights.
Meghan Markle recently expressed her political ambitions and said she is ready to fight for women’s rights.
