Special: The singer’s lawyer said on Friday that his client was facing domestic violence charges in Puerto Rico by a younger relative.
“Unfortunately, the person making this statement is struggling with deep mental health issues,” Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer, told Deadline today. “Absolutely, Ricky Martin has never and will never have a sexual or romantic relationship with his niece,” said the Hollywood heavyweight. “The idea is not only wrong, but also disgusting.”
“We all hope this man gets the help he desperately needs,” Singer said. But most of all, we look forward to hearing about this terrible case when the judge admits the facts.”
Martin has received a temporary restraining order in recent weeks, with more allegations of harassment and a seven-month affair with his 21-year-old niece in recent weeks. A trial is scheduled for July 21 in Puerto Rico regarding the allegations. If Martin is accused of abusing a relative within the family, he could face up to 50 years in prison if found guilty.
The latest allegations from the United States and the lawyer’s response come as Grammy-winning star Martin. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: An American Criminal History faces an explosive $3 million lawsuit from his manager, Rebecca Drucker, for unpaid commissions. Drucker and his team at Venable LLP, who hung a sword over Martin’s head, also allege that the plaintiff bailed the drug addict “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer “from charges that could end his career in September 2020.”
Since Drucker filed his case in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 29, Martin and his lawyers at Lavely & Singer have remained largely silent on the matter.

Earlier this month, when a Puerto Rican judge approved a successful TRO against CAA representative Martin, the singer’s campaign criticized the domestic violence allegations as “completely false and fabricated.” The request for a restraining order was made under Law 54 of the Island, also known as the Domestic Violence Prevention and Response Act.
