Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Renata Litvinova and Bella Hadid on the runway: How was Demna Gvasalia’s second fashion show for Balenciaga?

Balenciaga made its long-awaited comeback in the haute couture arena last July. This was the brand’s first fashion show after 53 years. And this morning the whole world froze in anticipation of Demna Gvalasia’s second collection. Nicole Kidman’s morning exit from the brand’s Paris office sparked interest (already increased). All Telegram channels immediately began to wonder if a Hollywood actress would make her podium debut today. Let’s go ahead and tell you what it is. But first things first.

First of all, we started thinking about the front row, which seemed like a hit with everyone from Alexa Demi and Anna Wintour to Zemfira and Bella Hadid’s boyfriend Mark Kalman (the hint that the model would be on the show was instantly considered).

The 51st couture collection began with anonymity (which Demna often emphasized) – models from the collaboration with Mercedes appeared on the catwalk wearing welding masks and suits that seemed to be made of rubber. It turns out that this is not rubber, but a limestone-based Japanese neoprene developed in 1958 specifically for Cristobal Balenciaga.

There were many references to the work of the master of the industry – Demna rethought iconic dresses, details and styles. One of the brightest commemorations took place at the very end of the show, when the bride of Balenciaga appeared on the runway in a fluffy dress embellished with flowers.

Gvasalia not only works with an impressive archive, but also creates his own history by diluting couture (we saw something of this material in the last collection) with hoodies, Helly Hancen sports jackets and even speaker bags.

But the real surprise awaited guests of the show as Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Needman, Naomi Campbell and Renata Litvinova finally took the podium.
