It’s official: homosexual couples in Switzerland now have the right to marry. The law officially entered into force on 1 July, the date on which same-sex couples were able to pass the ring on their finger.
A referendum victory
September 26th Swiss majority had come out in favor of marriage for all a referendum. They imposed a crushing defeat on their opponents, with a “yes” voted by 64%. All the cantons of the country voted, even the most conservative.

The fight against homophobia continues
Switzerland was one of the last Western European countries to vote in favor of universal marriage. The new law also gives same-sex couples the right to adopt a child together.
“We are aware that there is a part of the population who voted against marriage for all and we hope to be able to live our life simply and like everyone else. “

If Switzerland has it decriminalized homosexuality in 1942some municipal or cantonal police still had it registers identify homosexual people. According to Progressthe latter existed until the early 1990s.
