In an interview with British GQ, actor Ewan McGregor talked about how his views on raising children changed with the arrival of his son and the difficult period of his relationship with his daughter Clara from a previous marriage.

The eldest daughter – 26-year-old Clara – has been a real test of strength in recent years. Evan filed for divorce from Clara’s mother, Eva Mavrakis, in 2017 after more than 20 years of married life. Then the press got photos of the paparazzi where the actor kissed his colleague in the movie “Fargo” Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Clara reacted quite harshly to these photos: she insulted Mary and called her father “scum.”

Recently, however, the relationship between Evan and Clara has warmed up again – in large part due to work on a joint film whose idea came to Clara.

You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder chronicles a father-daughter trip where Evan’s character takes his daughter, played by Clara, to rehab. While the trip itself is fiction, the relationship between the characters and the father’s attempt to help his daughter is based on Clara’s own experiences.

The actress noted that her daughter accepts her position, and also understands what it means to “educate someone in a difficult situation.”

Evan also commented on his difficult divorce and unpleasant separation from his first wife.

This year, the Scottish actor married Mary Elizabeth Winstead, with whom they have a one-year-old son, Laurie. Evan has admitted that he has reconsidered his view on work-life balance and now wants to be as much involved in the baby’s life as possible, in any case.

McGregor stated that he had lived in such a way for decades and said that he did not stay in one place for more than four months.

The period of children from McGregor’s first marriage to Eva Mavrakis coincided with the rise in popularity after the release of Trainspotting in 1996.

Evan admitted that he talked about raising four daughters from his first marriage.
