In the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory, archaeologists made a discovery that truly surprised scientists – ancient plaques containing love spells and curses were discovered here. The Volnoe Delo Foundation reported that the artifacts date back to the 4th century AD and were made of gold and lead.

As experts say, one of the plates is made of gold and decorated with magic symbols. Among them is the sign omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet, which, according to historians, “activated” magic in ancient times. The inscription on it is made in an elegant style, emphasizing the special meaning of the request.
The lead plate turned out to be no less interesting. People’s names are engraved on it – researchers believe that such an object was used in rituals to bring trouble and misfortune to enemies. Similar finds are mostly found in the ancient Greek colonies of Egypt, where the Greeks created dishes from gold, silver, bronze and lead.
Phanagoria, located on the land where these works were found, was considered the capital of the Asian part of the Bosporan kingdom in ancient times. Today it is considered the largest ancient monument in Russia and continues to reveal new secrets of the ancient world.
By the way, we previously wrote that during excavations in the settlement of Akhetaten, where the builders of the royal tombs lived, archaeologists discovered a mysterious ancient artifact that is about three thousand years old. Read more here.
