Network discussing new logo "McDonald’s": memes and plagiarism allegations

The network is discussing the new McDonald’s logo. The image fell on the Internet yesterday, but the press service of the company, which today will replace the American fast food chain in the Russian market, confirmed to Izvestia that this image was indeed chosen as the new logo.

The new logo has caused a stir – not everyone is enthusiastic about it. Some users noted similarities with other well-known logos, such as the symbols of the Marriott hotel chain (which recently announced its withdrawal from Russia) and the Russian social network Now, and began to joke and send memes.

In fact, the symbols are deciphered as follows: There are two yellow french fries and a yellow-orange burger on a green background, which should symbolize product and service quality. The name of the new network is still unknown, although the first outlets should open on June 12.

– Ksenia Sobchak wrote “Bloody Lady” on the telegram channel.

– Indicated in the telegram channel “Only to everyone”.

Among other “inspirations” for the updated McDonald’s symbol, netizens cite logos from Ukrainian gas station network WOG, Warner Music’s logos, the Joom platform, Singaporean cafe Mos Burger, and even the flag of Bangladesh. On Twitter (Twitter is blocked in the Russian Federation) and Telegram, bloggers have traditionally turned to memes.

At the same time, the company itself said that they are very pleased with the new logo.

– quotes the words of the representative of the company telegram channel “Rise”.

In parallel, the network is also discussing preparations for the opening of updated fast food restaurants. Screenshots of correspondence from former McDonald’s employee groups recounted how they were forced to remove old symbols from trays and trays and shared life hacks, describing what tools could be used to achieve the best results – sandpaper, a soldering iron, and even a grinder.

The McDonald’s chain announced on May 16 that it was leaving Russia after 32 years of operation, previously suspended restaurants due to the situation in Ukraine. As a result, the business in Russia was sold to businessman Alexander Govor, who previously managed 25 McDonald’s restaurants in Novosibirsk, Berdsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Barnaul and Krasnoyarsk.
