The most popular Russian classics of 2024 were Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Mikhail Bulgakov and Evgeny Zamyatin. The “Read City” bookseller told the Snob.

Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita” took first place in the list of books sold. The increase in popularity is associated not only with the fact that the book is on the list of required reading for schoolchildren, but also with the release of a film adaptation. Compared to 2023, sales increased by 36%. Overall, author sales increased by 14% last year.
The second, third and fourth lines of the rating remained with Dostoevsky. His most popular works were “Crime and Punishment”, “White Nights” and “The Fool”. In fifth place is Zamyatin’s dystopia “We”. The top ten also included Turgenev’s “Fathers and Sons”, Gogol’s “Dead Souls”, Lermontov’s “A Hero of Our Time”, Nabokov’s “Lolita” and Griboedov’s “Woe from Wit”.
The novel “The Master and Margarita” took first place in two more ratings last year. One is about books and the second is about movies.
