David Lynch, the four-time Oscar-nominated director of Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, passed away at the age of 78. His family announced this news on social media.

Lynch announced in 2024 that he was diagnosed with emphysema after a lifetime of smoking. “There is a huge void in the world because he is no longer with us. But as he said, relatives wrote, “Look at the donut, not the hole.”
The television series Twin Peaks and films such as Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive combined horror, noir, crime, and classic European surrealism.
David Lynch’s last feature film was 2006’s Inland Empire, and his main cinematic project was the third season of Twin Peaks in 2017. He has continued to produce web series, short films and music videos, including his recent collaboration with singer Chrystabell.
