Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s work “White Nights” is spreading rapidly on social networks. Users are actively quoting parts of the story, recommending it to friends and reposting it on banned social networks and TikTok. The Guardian reports this.
“Everyone wants to fall head over heels in love. And then they read Dostoevsky’s White Nights,” says a popular post on the social network X*. Thanks to readers from all over the world, this work is discussed even more than before. In England, for example, sales of classical works have already increased Francis Cleverdon, chief executive of Hatchards Picadilly bookstore, has already described the popularity of White Nights as a “phenomenon”.
The virality of the story also affects the spread of popularity of other forms of Russian culture. For example, playlists called “White Nights” appeared on the music streaming service Spotify, consisting of works by Russian composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Dmitry Shostakovich.
