The star paid tribute to her nine-year-old pet, whom she adopted shortly after her split from Ben Affleck in 2015. Sharing beautiful photos of the dog, she wrote: “It’s hard to know how to write this – it seems crazy to mourn the loss of a pet in this world, but as we share with you all our sadness for Birdie, it’s only fair that I let you know about her passing.”
The artist said Birdie wasn’t feeling well after she stopped eating. “We were surprised to learn that not only was he very ill, but he was also on the verge of death. The vet told us that dogs usually hold out until their owners come home, and we believe he did this so we could pet Birdie’s soft ears together and thank him for being the best dog in the world. Birdie loved being read to, always found her way into cooking shows, and knew how to give people what they needed,” said Jennifer Garner.
