New details on Twitter acquisition: Elon Musk threatens to abandon stock purchase

In April, Elon Musk announced that he had bought Twitter for $44 billion. As the billionaire admits, his goal is to make the platform better and more free. Regarding the current situation on the social network, Musk said, “Freedom of expression is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is a digital platform where issues vital to the future of humanity are discussed.” But as early as May, the entrepreneur announced that he was suspending the deal with Twitter. “The Twitter deal is temporarily suspended pending details confirming that the share of spam and fake accounts is indeed less than 5%,” said Elon Musk.

Today, it was learned that the owner of Tesla, based on a letter that Musk’s lawyer sent to Twitter, accused the company of preventing information about fake accounts on the platform and threatened to refuse to buy shares.

“Based on Twitter’s actions to date, and specifically the company’s most recent letter, Mr. Musk believes the company is actively interfering and obstructing (and resisting its own respective obligations) the right to be informed under the terms of the agreement. “This is a clear material breach of his obligations under the terms of the contract, and Mr. Musk reserves all rights arising from it, including the right not to complete the proceedings and cancel the merger agreement.”
