Konstantin Khabensky gave a major interview for the first time in a long time (we know that this happens very rarely). The actor talked with writer and publicist Alexander Tsypkin about his youth and, of course, the theater.
According to the Method star, her youth wasn’t easy. “There were hooligans in the Leningrad school and so were we; ordinary students who were either bullied by hooligans or befriended us. I was friends with a hooligan, he saved me from time to time. Then unfortunately they all disappeared. Banned substances, something else, a lot of people…” Khabensky shared.
The director said that he was involved in an “unofficial youth movement” during his university years. “In the evenings, while driving from the technical school, I would get off the Nevsky Prospekt metro station, calmly walk to the Kazan Cathedral and have a great time… We crossed the roofs, the police cordons – we developed, we provide the adrenaline with our own hands,” he explained.
“I pierced my left ear with a needle using the punk method for one evening. Then one of the seniors said to me: “You should be a clown!” “I remembered and went in this direction, to the studio theater,” added the artist.
Khabensky said that for a while he worked as an assembler in a Saturday theater studio. “That was the main job, then I was somehow magically transferred into untrained acting. When there were not enough people in the crowd, I went to take their place, then they entrusted me with words, then more words, and somehow it started… Then they told me: “Stop editing, go become an actor. , let your work experience as an actor begin. I had absolutely no intention of studying, I was in leading roles, I had a good salary and I was 20 years old!” – said the artist.
Konstantin Yuryevich said that his career was largely thanks to Veniamin Filshtinsky. “1991, the studio theater goes on tour in London. I come to my master Veniamin Mikhailovich and tell this news, and he answers: “Choose, Konstantin, either work or tour.” And I left! We had a two-week tour, everything went great. After returning to St. Petersburg, I continued to do some work for about a month, and at one point the phone rang: “Konstantin, why don’t you come to class?” I was sure I was in an “either/or” situation… This call saved me! It was very easy for me to choose between studying and London; The second looked more interesting. Only five years after graduation I realized what Felshtinsky’s school was,” Khabensky said.
Earlier, Anna Peresild gave a long interview to Alexander Tsypkin, in which she talked about her relationship with her star parents, how we see our future and cinema. The main thing is gathered here.
