The friend of late One Direction frontman Rogelio Nores, who was with Liam Payne shortly before the tragedy, denies his guilt. He says he doesn’t let down a celebrity.

In an exclusive conversation with the Daily Mail, Rogelio said he was not under investigation and his home was not searched. He also claims that although he was with Liam Payne on that ill-fated night, he did not leave him alone under the influence of banned substances.

“I was at his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before the incident occurred. As I was leaving, more than 15 people were chatting and joking with him in the hotel lobby. I testified as a witness to the prosecutor on October 17 and I have not spoken to any police or prosecutor since that date. I am truly heartbroken over this tragedy and I miss my friend every day,” Nores said.

Yesterday it was learned that three charges had been brought in relation to the death of Liam Payne. Nores is charged with distribution of controlled substances and leaving a person incapacitated to ensure his or her own safety. Therefore, Rogelio faces 15 years in prison.

In the artist’s death, according to the toxicological examination, the results of which were announced the previous day, it was determined that there was a mixture of prohibited substances, alcohol and prescription drugs in his blood. This “cocktail” may have caused the unstable state of the musician, as a result of which he fell from a great height and received injuries incompatible with life.
