P Diddy’s lawyers identified those responsible for leaking the video of his ex-girlfriend being beaten

The P Diddy scandal is gaining momentum. The rapper’s lawyers went on the offensive against American officials. According to them, agents of the Department of Homeland Security deliberately released a video in which the artist beats his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. TMZ reports this, citing documents obtained by the publication.

Lawyers for Sean Combs (the rapper’s real name Note ed.) claims that on May 17, 2016, the same day CNN released the Cassie video, a reporter from the network contacted a member of Diddy’s team to comment on what was happening in the video. The journalist allegedly reported that CNN “had surveillance footage of a hotel in Los Angeles.”

According to the lawyers, after this meeting, P Diddy’s team sent an official letter to the prosecutor’s office. “I am concerned that someone may have provided this footage to CNN. I am bringing this to your attention because I believe you do not want this any more than I do,” the text reads. The prosecutor thanked the rapper’s representatives for the information they provided about the video and noted that he had already watched the video.

According to the lawyers, the leaked recording “damages Mr. Combs’ reputation.” That’s exactly what federal agents wanted when they began investigating P. Diddy and frequently commented to the press about his criminal cases, attorneys believe. Sean’s side began to develop a plan to defend themselves in court.
