pablo f Dean Jr. was elected 13th International Vice President of IATSE by unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the Union. Dean, who is the director of theater affairs for IATSE Local One in New York, succeeds James J. Cliff Jr., former president of Local One, who resigned from the IATSE Executive Board last month.
Dean is the first fifth generation local theater artist to work in his jurisdiction for 42 years, including at the Metropolitan Opera House, various television studios, Broadway theaters and many industry events. Last month, he was re-elected as local theater manager for a fourth term in the position he has held since 2013. “Serving membership in Local One is a privilege and an honor,” he said.
He was chair of the local board of directors from 2010 to 2013 and is chair of its education committee, which helps create opportunities for members with the latest training and technology.
