Chester Bennington’s son Jamie says Linkin Park fans threatened him and he has been denied forgiveness for criticising the band’s new lead singer Emily Armstrong.
After his statement on Sunday, Jamie began receiving threatening messages. Angry people wrote: “What if you’re Chester’s son, you nothing,” “You better not come to his concerts,” “If you’re his son, go follow your father,” angry people wrote. Bennington also noted that the members of Linkin Park did not even invite him to the concert, and the creator of the group, Mike Shinoda, blocked him on social networks.
“They didn’t ask me how I felt or offer me a ticket. I want to go but I don’t want to pay… there are a lot of people who don’t like me right now, I don’t know if I’ll be safe at the concert,” Bennington said. He also accused the members of Linkin Park of bullying him.
Chester’s son wrote on his blog that he saw Armstrong’s involvement with the group as a betrayal of his father’s memory, accusing his daughter of being interested in Scientology and supporting actor Danny Masterson, who was convicted of rape and sentenced to at least 30 years in prison.
Emily Armstrong responded immediately to the criticism, saying she had only supported Masterson in the initial hearings and had attended the hearings as an observer. Page Six writes that she abandoned her views when she learned the enormity of his crime. She reiterated her opposition to all forms of violence. The girl did not comment on her religious affiliation.
Let’s remind that the band went on hiatus in 2017, when the life of their lead singer Chester Bennington was tragically cut short. Evanescence’s leader Amy Lee was expected to take his place, but she denied this assumption. Linkin Park recently released a video of an unreleased song with Chester Bennington. Let’s remind that the death of the band’s lead singer was learned on July 20, 2017.
