Oscar Wilde’s famous novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” is being adapted into a television series, Deadline reports. The project will be a modern rethinking of the work about the eternal obsession with beauty and youth.
The series “Grays” will explore the world of fashion today. Basil and Dorian Gray will play brothers in the new film adaptation. The cast has not yet been cast. The project will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger (“The Age of Adaline” and separate episodes of “Riverdale” and “You”). Sisters Katie Rose Rogers and Robbie Rogers will serve as executive producers. The showrunner will be Rina Mimoun.
By the way, “The Picture of Dorian Gray” turned out to be the most successful work of Oscar Wilde – it was filmed more than 30 times in different countries. The plot of the work tells how the artist Basil Hallward painted a portrait of the young and beautiful Dorian Gray. Admiring his image, the young man expresses his wish that the portrait would grow old, but he himself would remain always young.
Previously, the series premiere of “Dune: The Prophecy” was named after the novel “The Order of the Sisters of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Read about it here.
