American Jordan Chiles did not stay in Paris for the closing ceremony, while she won gold in the team all-around and bronze on floor. But this last medal was disputed and the Olympic Committee decided to withdraw it, while Romania had appealed to the sports court.

Because it was Romanian Ana Barbosu who was celebrating the bronze when the smile on her face quickly dissipated: American Jodan Chiles’s protest resulted in her score being reevaluated to allow her to move onto the podium.
But this weekend the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in favor of the Romanian due to a question of timing. Considering that the American appeal had been filed “one minute and four seconds” after the announcement of the vote, while the legal time limit is only one minute.
The federation supports it
The Romanian should recover the medal, but the American federation wants to continue the stalemate. In its letter to the CAS, the American Gymnastics Federation “calls for the CAS decision to be reviewed and for Chile’s score of 13.766 and bronze medal to be reinstated“.
