The French brand Jacquemus stopped the delivery of its products to Russia against the background of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to the brand’s Russian partners.

According to insiders, the decision to leave Russia was made by designer Simon Jacquemus himself, who sent a “very emotional letter”. The letter states that the brand is prohibited from working with Russian partners at the legislative level. In addition, the French Textile Industry Federation recommended that other designers who are members of the organization refuse to cooperate with Russian companies – otherwise the brands will face a fine of 30 thousand euros and a refusal to finance.

Olga Karput, the founder of the concept store KM20, where Jacquemus products are sold, confirmed to Vogue’s former editor-in-chief Ksenia Solovieva that the supply has been stopped and spoke about the situation.

Earlier, the brand was at the center of a scandal in Russia when designer Simon Jacquemus posted a photo on Instagram* of him kissing his boyfriend. Russian users criticized the designer in the comments. In response, Jacquemus added that the Russians had no idea how many homosexuals were working at the company.

Jacquemus is known for his brightly colored micro bags and minimalist essentials that have taken the fashion world by storm.

Previously, many luxury brands left the Russian market against the backdrop of a military special operation. In addition, the import of luxury goods into Russia is prohibited due to sanctions, so a residence permit in Europe is required when purchasing branded goods abroad.
