It turns out that intense exercise can lower immunity. Biologists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory came to this conclusion, according to Military Medical Research.

They tested the biomaterials of 11 firefighters before and after 45 minutes of active training. It turned out that immediately after the exercise, the body’s ability to resist infections was lower than at other times. This revealed the vulnerability of exercisers to respiratory diseases.
But not all scientists agree that intense training weakens the immune system. Some experts believe the test results show “increased immune surveillance and immune regulation.”
Additionally, the study may have been influenced by firefighters’ exposure to pollutants during their work, but when taken together with previous studies, the scientists concluded that there was evidence supporting a link between exercise and a higher incidence of respiratory infections.
We have previously mentioned the five vitamins that are essential for those who actively exercise. Read about it here.
