Eric, what’s this about?
In EricBenedict Cumberbatch plays Vincent, a famous, selfish and important puppeteer in 1980s New York of whom Vincent is the creator Goodmorning sunshine, a once-successful children’s show, now in decline. His life takes a nightmarish turn when, after a violent argument with his wife Cassie (Gaby Hoffman), their son Edgar disappears.
The boy went to school, but never reached it. Vincent, overwhelmed by guilt and grief, begins to hallucinate in which he sees a puppet named Eric, created by Edgar. This puppet becomes a central figure in his quest for redemption.

Descent into hell
The series doesn’t just focus on Vincent. Michael Ledroit, played by McKinley Belcher III, is a gay black detective tasked with finding Edgar. His character brings an added dimension to the plot, particularly exploring issues of systemic racism, homophobia and the marginalization of the homeless.
Careful production
From a production point of view, we are not surprised by the success of the miniseries: the series is signed by Lucy Forbes, to whom we owe the excellent The end of the damn world, also available on Netflix. Jane Featherstone and Lucy Dyke are credited as producers and have already become famous for their work Chernobylthe other above Black mirror.
