The fashion massacre continues. Store closures, job protection plans, receiverships and liquidations follow one another. After Camaïeu, Naf Naf, Kookaï and Minelli, it is the turn of many brands for children and families in turmoil. Bonton went into administration in October 2023, before being finally taken over on 15 December by finance firm Roger Zannier. And the IDKids group (which manages the branches Okaïdi, Obaïbi, Jacadi, Oxybul éveil et jeux, Rigolo Comme La Vie, Bubble and N’JOY) has announced a restructuring plan. Du Pareil au Same and Sergent Major, which belong to the Générale pour l’Enfant (GPE) group, were recently placed into administration.
Smallable placed in receivership
A new emblematic actor in the world of children and families is also going through an area of turbulence, the Fashion Network website reveals. On May 15th, Smallable, protagonist in the world of children and families, was placed under receivership by the Paris Commercial Court. Personally it means something to me, because I have bought a lot of clothes and accessories for my children on this site. Smallable was founded in 2008. At the time its approach was innovative, a multi-brand site with a cutting-edge selection, certainly high prices, but quality products, careful delivery. Really, it looked good. And yes, I fell in love with cute clothes several times and also got great deals in the Outlet, renamed “Archives”. But Smallable’s fate is not yet sealed. The online concept store, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, is now accelerating its search for investors.
