Cosmetics company Wella leaves Russia
Wella products
The German cosmetics manufacturer Wella Company is leaving the Russian market – this became known from a letter the company sent to its partners on May 27.
The letter (in the hands of the Kommersant newspaper) states that the company has stopped producing and selling products under its brands in Russia, including Londa. The work will be delegated to a local senior management team.
The Beauty Industry Entrepreneurs Association Ombudsman Lyalya Sadykova told Kommersant that Wella products occupy 40% of the market in the premium and business segments of cosmetics for hair coloring. Except for the localized brand Londa, most of the goods were sourced from abroad. The source of the publication in the industry suggested that the Russian company Estel could take the share of Wella.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade states that Wella branded products may continue to be supplied to the country through alternative logistics channels, as they are subject to the parallel import mechanism.
Today Wella Company includes 14 brands including Wella Professional, Londa Professional and Kadus Professional. The company has been operating in Russia since 1994.
Earlier, the cosmetic concern Coty (Guess, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Max Factor, Rimmel) and many other companies announced the suspension of business in Russia.
