Nicolas Cage, nephew of famous director Francis Ford Coppola, will star in the new Spider-Man series. At the same time, his uncle made it clear that he did not like superhero movies.
Cage will portray the dark Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He previously voiced the character in the animated version of the story. “We are excited to have Nicolas Cage starring in this series! “No one else could bring such poignancy, pain and heart to this unique character,” Sony Pictures Television Studios President Catherine Pope was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
The series follows the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private detective in 1930s New York who must struggle with his past life as the city’s only superhero.
Francis Ford Coppola has previously said that movies about superheroes are disgusting, and the director generally doubts that everyone will watch them. Chris Hemsworth responded to this criticism by stating that comic book movies literally saved the film industry.
