Payroll will soon be simplified, and that’s not necessarily good news

On Tuesday 23 April Bruno Le Maire announced the “simplification” of pay slips. Simplification which could lead to the omission of numerous information on social security contributions.

A small revolution. This Tuesday, April 23, the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire confirmed on France 2’s “20h” that, as part of a bill aimed at simplifying economic life, pay slips will change very soon.

55 to 15 lines

Very concretely, the pay slip will contain less information. To this day, she there are 55 lines, sometimes more, sometimes a little less. It’s illegible.”, according to the minister. He therefore wants to reduce it to “about fifteen lines” so that the employee “sees what the entrepreneur pays, what he receives, what he pays in social security contributions, what he pays in taxes and what he has left at the end of the month”. A template was even released, as can be seen below:

The goal, for Bruno Le Maire? “Making the lives of business leaders easier”. It is also “a guarantee of trust” AND “transparency” towards employees, as well as a means of doing “savings” for businesses, he argued.

Information omitted

A new pay slip is supposed to make it easier to read, but it also omits some information, according to several Internet users who commented on this post. For a certain Jonathan: “ I am responsible for payroll. Today it is almost impossible for an employee to check their paycheck and tomorrow it will be completely impossible. It’s not simplification, it’s trick. For us it will be a double job… »

While many others highlight the problematic side of this reduction in lines. Because this could lead to omitting essential information. For example, on this new pay slip, it will be impossible to know how, how much and where certain social contributions will end up. No date for its implementation has been announced.
