Car seat: Britax recalls model over safety issue

A gap could be created between the handle and the seat shell of a model, forcing the brand to recall it.

We don’t joke with the quality of car seats. This is why the Britax Römer brand, well known to parents, has decided to recall its BABY-SAFE 5Z2 model. We will explain it to you.

The BABY-SAFE 5Z2 model from Britax Römer has a defect

Fortunately, this is not a defect that could endanger the child once installed in the car. However, this is a significant malfunction: it is a potential risk of the handle coming off while transporting the body out of the passenger compartment.

As the brand explains on the government website Rappel Conso, “It is possible for a gap to develop between the handle and the seat shell of the BABY-SAFE 5Z2, generally only on one side. “. The consequence ? When carrying the baby in the carrier, the handle may become loose and the baby may be injured.

But this recall measure is above all preventive: two cases of injuries were reported, but it was not possible to confirm them. In case of doubt, the Britax Römer brand recalls products manufactured before 21 October 2023 and invites you to stop using the seat and contact the points of sale by contacting consumer service.
