In recent years, more and more companies are abandoning formal dress codes, offering their employees complete freedom to choose what to wear. Would you like to come to the office in jeans and a t-shirt? Easily. Or maybe you could wear a cozy sweater? Yes please.
But let’s not forget that many still adhere to the conservative rules in the dress code – fitted shirt, jacket, trousers or pencil skirt (by the way, currently in trend). So the good old principle of “one color in summer and winter” continues to work like clockwork.
However, all this pales in comparison with the dress code of politicians, who in no case should deviate from the strict dress code. We decided to talk about ten basic wardrobe items that politicians should not wear on the eve of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation.
What shouldn’t men wear?
Short sock

Yes, politicians have no right to refuse long black (or navy blue) socks, even if the temperature outside exceeds 30 degrees Celsius. By the way, you can’t wear white either. Despite Michael Jackson’s best efforts.
Shorts

Have you ever seen a politician in shorts at a business meeting? NO. Because it’s against the dress code. Representatives of the states wear classic cut trousers with wrinkles.
thick-soled shoes

Thick-soled moccasins or low-top shoes are taboo. For politicians, black derbies or oxfords with thin soles are provided (brown is allowed only in warm weather).
shirt with pockets

There are also various requirements for a white shirt. Firstly, there should be no pockets, secondly, the inside of the shirt should not be transparent, and thirdly, it should be plain. By the way, large sizes are not allowed either. Headlines should not be ignored either. They can be on one or two buttons and should also protrude from the bottom of the jacket by about a centimeter.
double breasted jacket

Double-breasted jackets will also have to be abandoned. Politicians wear the classic single-breasted version with only two or three buttons. As for color, only solid navy blue, dark gray or black are allowed.
What shouldn’t women wear?
Skirts and dresses above the knee

Female politicians have no less restrictions than men. For example, they cannot wear skirts and dresses above the knee. And there can be no talk of fashionable minis at all. By the way, Maxi is also not welcome. Only classic pencil skirts remain.
Sandals

Open-toe shoes or sandals are a strict no-no for female politicians. Equipped with classic low-heeled pumps. Platform and excessive stiletto heels will also have to be abandoned.
Tops and blouses with deep necklines

A deep neckline is best left for dates and informal events. For business meetings and official visits, female politicians prefer a more formal appearance. For example, shirt and trouser sets or the aforementioned midi skirt sets.
Accent decorations

Of course, female politicians wear jewelry too. Their arsenal includes minimalist pendants, barely noticeable earrings, and thin bracelets. However, they are forced to abandon multi-layered necklaces and signet ring sets because accent jewelry is against the dress code.
Products with bare shoulders

Bare shoulders are also taboo. Dress codes at official events and visits do not allow revealing items.
