The documentary chronicles the life of Palestinian actress and director Hiam Abbass, who left her home village to pursue her dream of acting in Europe, leaving behind her mother, grandmother and seven sisters. Thirty years later, her daughter Lina Soualem, now a director, decided to return with her on the trail of the past, exploring the disappeared places and scattered memories of four generations of Palestinian women.

The documentary intertwines contemporary images with family and historical archives, creating a visual connection between present and past. The film thus becomes a profound exploration of the transmission of memory, places, femininity and resistance in the lives of these women who had to leave everything to start again.
Who is director Lina Soualem?
