In the string of fashion brands closing in France, Burton of London goes into liquidation

The devastation of the mid-range fashion scene in France continues, with Burton in London placed into compulsory administrative liquidation: 47 stores close, and above all 200 employees lose their jobs.

In the series of liquidations of brands such as San Marina, Camaïeu, Minelli and other judicial administrations of Kookaï, Jennyfer, Naf Naf, André or even Kaporal, it is the turn of the French branch Burton in London to be placed into compulsory administrative liquidation by the Paris commercial court on 13 February 2024.

Burton of London in liquidation: 200 redundant employees

Following the forced administrative liquidation of Burton in London, 200 employees were made redundant with the closure of the brand’s 47 stores. As Le Journal des femmes recalls, it has been in receivership since 12 June 2023. It belongs to Thierry Le Guénic who purchased it at the end of 2020 for a symbolic euro. The entrepreneur also owns Habitat and Orcanta, which are now permanently closed.

In short, this does not bode well for the future of Burton of London in France, nor for the entrepreneur’s other brands, namely CosmoParis, Paule Ka and Maison Lejaby.
